Finding Your Dream Tattoo Design

I remember when I got my first Tattoo. The actual tattoo inking process was not as bad as I thought. Ironically, the hardest part about getting a tattoo was simply picking one. I had a vague idea of what I wanted - a scorpion - but I didn’t realize that it took so long to find the actual image of what I wanted.

In fact, I spent so much time searching that I almost gave up. It seemed that everywhere I turned, I was just finding amateur sketches and unoriginal and blurry images from the various free tattoo sites online. Eventually, I found the tattoo that I wear proudly on my left shoulder but I vowed that I wouldn’t go through the same frustrating process again.

If you find yourself in the same predicament, here are some quick tips to help you find your next tattoo design - without the hassle:

1) You Get What You Pay For:
The great thing about the Internet is that it’s packed with thousands of sites offering free tattoo designs. The problem is that many of these images are too blurry for the Tattoo studio to use. Or worse, since the tattoo designs are free - you are more likely to get a poor reproduction of a tattoo that “everyone” else has.

So I suggest taking a look at the private online design galleries available online. I’ve found that these tattoo galleries have a constant selection of fresh and unique ideas that are easily reproduced for the artist at the Tattoo studio.

2) Get Outside Help:
If you still can’t find what you are looking for - you may want to get the help of an acquaintance who is an artist. If you don’t know an artist, ask your friends.

You will be surprised by how many people know a talented sketch artist who would be willing to help. After all, the artist would find it flattering to have their ‘art’ featured on a living canvas

3) Hang Out at the Local Tattoo Studio:
Tattoos are more popular than ever - and getting more popular every day. It’s likely that your local tattoo studio is pretty busy. As a result, the artists at the shop probably don’t have a lot of time to help you dream up your design.

If this is the case, offer to set an appointment with the Lead Artist at the shop. I would suggest that you offer to pay the artist for the time. This way, you can insure that you have the artist’s undivided attention. One word of etiquette, don’t take your artist’s designs to another Tattoo shop.

Follow these quick and easy tips and you will be well on your way to getting your next unique tattoo.
